Sterideal
From Engineering-to-order to Configure-to-order
Client:
Stork Food & Dairy Systems, Amsterdam.
Challenge:
Restructuring, redesigning of the product family
Sterideal; realisation of cost reduction and the necessary
time for order engineering.
From history based to knowledge based.
Result:
- Cost reduction: 17%.
- Decreased order risks because of predictable configuration
- Increased delivery reliability because of predictable order
progress and renewed contracting.
- Order creation in 40 hours (reduction 80%).
- Time to market; 9 months.
- With in total 1200 modules, all desired variants are
configurable
Our approach:
Combined, with members from project team SFDS, the project
objectives have been defined.
Post en Dekker has been responsible for the integral
project management.
On basis of the P&ID, the functional specifications and a
generic product structure of the product family Sterideal have been
composed. ATO and CTO modules have been defined and knowledge and
configuration rules have been determined. The product family is
determined as 100% CTO for the capacity of 6.5k, 8.5k, 11k, 13k
15.5k, 18k and 24k ltr/hr.
Standardising on a subdivision level, technical specifications have
been determined. A procurement trajectory has been carried out. All
generic modules of the product family have been integrally designed
and intensively reviewed. Producing the variants of the generic
modules happens automatically.
The main and sub formations are customer-specific; and several
modules are adapted to customer order. To compose a
customer-specific order in a simple manner, a product configurator
has been set up. With this, it is possible to configurate all
order documents in a simple manner (3D/2D CAD and BOM). Connection
to ERP is provided for. All product documentation has been
delivered, including 3D/2D CAD, FS, TDS, engineering motivation and
SAP lists.
PCF is powered by TACTON.
