Vitronics Soltec specializes in design and manufacturing of mass soldering equipment for the international market of circuit board assembly. This international Original Equipment Manufacturer serves reflow, wave and selective soldering segments and designs and produces in three factories in the US, the Netherlands and China. For this world player in a very competitive market, constant chain optimization is an absolute must in order to stay competitive.
Assignment: Bridging the Challenge
Design and realize an integral modular Selective Soldering product family (the 6745) for chain optimization, by speeding up chain production with short lead times.
Realize a full implementation of the product family within the business process of Vitronics Soltec, from technical construction file and realization/testing of the prototype to suppliers selection and support with the assembly of the first series.
Result: Go beat the Competition!
Integral and compact design of the entire modular product family with a great many variants. The “full-option” variant consists of a flux, heater and soldering station, which should fit together in a very small casing. After looking into various options, the machine layout was optimised by an innovative approach for a very small overall size. Twenty modules were developed for the 6745, with which the complete assembly-to-order product family can accommodate any request from the market. Expected batch size: 150 per year. Optimizing the chain makes sure there is a short order continuation, so that this production line is yet again future proof.
